ROYCO® 555 Transmission and Turbine Oil. The powerful lubricant is designed for use in gas systems and can be used in standard turbine engines or helicopter transmissions. ROYCO® 555 is a synthetic product and is made from a proprietary blend of "hindered" poly esters and a technologically advanced additive package. The unique formula works to improve load carrying performance while protecting against corrosion and premature wear. It also boasts exceptional thermal-oxidative stability. In other words, this unique formula will help protect and optimize your engine's performance so your aircraft will purr like a kitten. ROYCO® 555 meets U.S. military specification DOD-PRF-85734 (it superseded DOD-L-85734 (AS)) and U.K. DERD.2497 and XAS-2354. So, if you're looking for DOD-L-85734 oils, then this is for you.
ROYCO® 555 Transmission and Turbine Oil from SkyGeek is commercially approved for use in gearboxes, transmissions and gas turbine engines built by Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Canada, CFM International, Rolls Royce, Allison, General Electric and others. It is also approved for use in select Garrett and Sunstrand accessories. The lubricant is specifically approved for use by the following aircraft manufacturers: Boeing Vertol, Bell Helicopter, Eurocopter/Aerospatiale, Textron, Hughes/McDonnell Douglas, Agusta, Sikorsky, MBB and Westland helicopter transmissions.
APPLICATIONS
ROYCO 555 was specifically developed for use in high performance gas turbine engines developed during the mid 1960's for the SST and Concorde. These advanced engines required a lubricant having good high temperature stability as well as extreme pressure load carrying capability. ROYCO 555 was developed for the demands of increasingly higher power output engines that subsequently develop higher operating temperatures and loads. It was also designed to give enhanced performance in current engines.
ROYCO 555 was also formulated to meet the requirements of helicopter gearbox and transmission systems. A high load carrying oil such as ROYCO 555 is necessary to meet the load requirements and reliability demands of those systems. More recently with the need to transmit more power and higher loads through helicopter gearbox and transmission systems, extensive evaluation by helicopter airframe manufacturers has demonstrated this improved load carrying ability which has resulted in improved performance - particularly by increased time between overhaul (TBO.) This oil should only be used in applications where synthetic oils have been specified or in systems expressly designed for synthetic lubricants
